Current trend is south and east of washington for the potential of Severe Weather as we see it and eventual end tonight and weekend looks spectacular. The governor of illinois says a second person has died after tornadoes struck the northern part of that state. One of the hardest hit areas is fairdale. Tornadoes flattened buildings there and the storms left devastation in the town of rochelle. Search and rescue teams are continuing to dig through the rubble. Looking for any survivors. Numbers wise, were at 50 degrees at reagan national. In south, were in the 60s already. Theres a very small area between the warmer air and the cold front coming in from the west. It will be a squeeze play this afternoon. As ive been telling you for a couple of days, it depends on how much sunshine we get for how long a period of time that will determine whether we get severe thunderstorms or a few garden variety storms. This is not the cold front. This is rain ahead of the warm front. That will spread eastward the next few hours. After that i think rapidly the skies will brighten. The sotherly winds will help to bring up warmer air. This is a wider view right now of this first area. A little indication of a second line along the cold front itself so actually, this little spot here that we expect to move overhead. Limited amount of time and well be able to really warm up. How quickly it warms up during that limited time mid afternoon that will determine what happens between 3 00 and 6 ....
