The Powerball jackpot now resets. The next drawing on Saturday night, January 23, will be for a $20 million jackpot.
Mega Millions and Powerball are both played in 45 states as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball also is offered in Puerto Rico.
Here s look at the 10 largest U.S. jackpots that have been won and the states where the winning tickets were sold:
1. $1.586 billion, Powerball, Jan. 13, 2016 (three tickets, from California, Florida, Tennessee)
2. $1.537 billion, Mega Millions, Oct. 23, 2018 (one ticket, South Carolina)
NEW YORK (WABC) A single ticket sold in Maryland matched all six numbers in the Wednesday night Powerball drawing to win the fourth-largest jackpot in Powerball history, but three lucky tickets sold in New Jersey nabbed $1 million prizes.
Based on final ticket sales, the jackpot climbed to an estimated $731.1 million at the time of the drawing, with a cash option of $546.8 million.
The lucky ticket holder will have the choice between an estimated annuity of $731.1 million, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment of $546.8 million. Both prize options are before taxes.
The winning numbers in the Wednesday drawing were 40, 53, 60, 68, 69, plus Powerball 22, and Power Play multiplier 3X.
Saturday s winning numbers were:

Next week s jackpot is expected to swell in excess of $850 million.
Friday night s winning numbers were:
3-11-12-38-43, with 15 as the Mega Ball
Eight $1 million second prizes were sold including two in New Jersey, and one on Long Island. Those three lucky lottery players will each receive $1 million.
Two in New Jersey:

One in New York:
The other second prize winners were in California, Florida, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
Saturday s Powerball jackpot isn t exactly small change either with a current jackpot of $640 million. The odds of winning are one in 292.2 million.
Wednesday night's Powerball jackpot was worth at least $550 million and grew to an estimated $640 million without a winner heading into the next drawing Saturday.

Mega Millions
The Mega Millions jackpot is expected to grow to $750 million for Friday s drawing after no one hit the big prize Tuesday night.
Tuesday s winning numbers were: 28, 12, 14, 26, 33 and a Megaball of 9.
If hit Friday, it would be the second highest jackpot in Mega Millions history, and among the top five highest of any U.S. lottery game ever.
The Mega Millions record is $1.537 billion, hit by a South Carolina player in 2018.
The record jackpot for any U.S. lottery game is $1.586 billion, shared by three winning Powerball tickets in January 2016.
