Officials agreed to the trail change in negotiating an 82-acre donation to the conservation agency last year.
In the grand scheme of things, it is not a huge departure from the old one, said Brian Stark, the agency s administrator.  This one works for safe passage across the road.
The donation by the Rasnow family last year helped to connect natural areas in what was a patchwork of private and public land within the agency s Southern Ridge Open Space.
Stark expects the new section of trail to open by May 14.
