It wasn’t until Feb. 1, 2019 that girls were allowed into the Boy Scouts of America.
Now, 22 months later, six San Diego County girls have earned their Eagle Scout rank, BSA’s highest honor.
In February they will receive national recognition, along with a seventh girl who splits her time between a troop in San Diego and one in Arizona, where she completed her Eagle certification.
“This is a historical event,” says
Stan Miller, president of the San Diego-Imperial Council BSA. “This is the first time women have been able to achieve this milestone.”

The young ladies all needed to complete 21 merit badges 10 in required activities and 11 in categories of their choice plus an intensive project of their own design that involves planning and fundraising, plus recruiting and leading volunteers to complete the project.
