For her efforts leading the COVID-19 testing lab on campus, Caryn Heldt has been selected to receive Michigan Technological University’s 2022 Faculty Distinguished Service Award.
The chemical engineering duo looks at ways to improve vaccine production, which would lower costs and help keep communities safer from viral diseases like COVID-19.
Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
HOUGHTON Dr. Caryn L. Heldt from MTU is the virtual guest at Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 10:30am. She will discuss the many different types of COVID vaccines in clinical trials and on the market, the difference and why the compressed timelines for clinical trials are not compromising safety. Finally, we will explore current and future vaccine manufacturing methodologies. The goal is to increase the number of doses available of new and current vaccines while keeping costs low.
