Seniors spark Central volleyball victory
PELLA Spearheaded by its three-member senior class, the Central College volleyball team secured a four-set victory against Loras College Saturday night, 18-25, 25-16, 25-18, 26-24.
The Dutch (2-2, 2-2 American Rivers Conference) handed the Duhawks (4-1, 4-1 conference) their first defeat of the season. It is also their first win against Loras since 2016.
Kayleigh Fite (senior, middle hitter, Florissant, Mo., Trinity Catholic HS) unleashed a career-high 20 kills, yielding a .318 hitting percentage. She also had 14 digs for her second double-double of the season.
“I couldn’t be happier for her because I know she’s earned it,” coach Jeanne Czipri said. “It’s a great way for her to celebrate her four years here.”
