Leslie West of Mountain Dead at 75
Leslie West, guitarist and vocalist for Mountain, has died at the age of 75.
An announcement by Dean Guitars said, “With a heavy heart, we are saddened to hear about the passing of #Dean Artist and part of the Dean family, Leslie West. Legendary and one of a kind. Rest In Peace”.
Mountain were one of the bands of the Woodstock music festival in 1969. Their best-known song is ‘Mississippi Queen’.
West drove Mountain with Felix Pappalardi from 1969 to 1972, reuniting a few times before officially disbanding in 1974 The group was influenced by the UK’s Cream and the guitar style of Eric Clapton. After the breakup, West formed West, Bruce and Laing with Corky Laing of Mountain and Jack Bruce of Cream. ....
