Mr Andrews began his career in politics in 1999 when he ran for a spot on Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, later serving as a TD from 2002 until taking a break from politics in 2012 and working as the CEO of charity Goal.
The Sinn Féin candidate was eliminated on Sunday night, with two Fine Gael and one non-party candidates elected to the Granard Municipal District so far.
