He s a Lone Star Art District dweller, known to sit around the Moe Jo s coffee truck, when it s parked outside St. Henry s Catholic Church on South Flores. Sometimes he has a canvas to paint, other times he s with his golden doodle named Walter, but he always has his meme-worthy gloves. This version of the unfazed senator is only about three feet tall and comes from the mind of Debra Zender, a local artist. Courtesy, Debra Zender ABOUT THE ARTIST Zender moved to San Antonio from Wisconsin in 2017 in search of warmer weather. She pursued her passion for tactile art when she arrived in town. Her contributions to the local art scene include a series of people she s built inspired by San Antonians, like the late Tito Bradshaw. She also recently created a Ramen girl for Kimura. Zender calls the creations her friends.
