County approves three applications to fill Dodge County attorney position

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors approved three applications to finish the term of former Dodge County Attorney Oliver Glass at its meeting Wednesday morning.
The board approved applications from Paul Vaughan, Pam Hopkins and Christian Mirch with a 6-0 vote. Supervisor Pat Tawney was not present.
“We appreciate those individuals’ willingness to step forward at this time and be considered for the position,” Chairman Bob Missel said.
On Feb. 10, Glass announced he would resign from his position after two DUI arrests in March 2020 and January 2021. He had held the position since 2011 and was re-elected in 2018 with his term set to end in 2022. ....

County begins accepting applications to fill county attorney position


Dodge County has started taking applications to fill the county attorney position left by Oliver Glass.
The Dodge County Board of Supervisors unanimously voted to advertise for the position with a deadline of March 9 at 3 p.m. at its meeting Wednesday morning.
Glass, who has held the position of county attorney since 2011, was arrested for driving under the influence in March 2020 and sentenced to 15 months of probation in August 2020.
On Jan. 28, Glass was arrested again after attempting to pick his children up while intoxicated. Less than two weeks later, the county board read and approved his resignation at its meeting on Feb. 10. ....

County board moves forward with paving of Yager Road for manufacturing facility

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors approved creating an agreement to pave part of North Yager Road to prepare for business development at its meeting Wednesday.
I think this is a wonderful opportunity for Dodge County and the city of Fremont to see this new business come to us, a potential $70 million project, Chairman Bob Missel said. It just looks like a great project from a business standpoint, a cold storage facility with access to the rail to move product.
Compound Holdings intends to construct a warehouse and distribution and manufacturing facility at the northwest intersection of North Yager Road and County Road T. ....

County board approves road repair project bond in first meeting of 2021

The Dodge County Board of Supervisors approved a road repair project bond of up to $2.5 million at its first meeting of 2021 Wednesday morning.
As Chairman Bob Missel was not present, the meeting was led by Vice Chairman Lon Strand, who was reelected to his position. Missel was also reelected, as was County Clerk Fred Mytty, who was reelected as secretary.
The meeting was also the first for Supervisor Pat Tawney, who replaced David Saalfeld after winning the May primary election for District 4. The Fremont Fire Department captain ran unopposed in November.
The board’s bond issue involves projects with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Craig Jones of First National Bank of Omaha said the bank would be involved, along with Pinnacle Bank and First State Bank and Trust. ....
