Morrow County Hospital Board hears Health Advisory members

MOUNT GILEAD All members of the Morrow County Hospital Board were present at a special meeting June 28 to hear a summary from Morrow County Health Initiative Citizens Advisory members (MC-HIC) Jennifer Williams and Lois Stauffer.
Both Williams and Stauffer were very positive in their report of recommendations of ways the Hospital Board can move forward to improve healthcare for county residents.
“We have more in common than you might think,” said Stauffer who noted that the only point of disagreement was whether doing a new Request for Proposal (RFP) would be worthwhile.

Healthcare advisory group hears former exec

MOUNT GILEAD The Morrow County Healthcare Initiative Citizens Group (MC-HIC) heard about healthcare in Williams County, Ohio, and shared their concerns about healthcare and the hospital with Phil Ennen at their May 4 meeting.
HIC Chairman Jennifer Williams brought this nationally respected expert in healthcare to Morrow County to share his experience with the group. Ennen is the subject of the book, “The Hospital,” that was released this year.
Ennen was COO and then CEO for 32 years at Bryan Hospital in Williams County. He is presently serving on Ohio’s Pandemic Response Team. He spoke first about how healthcare and hospital business has become extremely complicated since the 1980s and 90s.
Health advisory group reviews citizen survey

MOUNT GILEAD The Morrow County Healthcare Initiative advisory group (MC-HIC) reviewed 252 survey responses that were returned by Morrow County residents.
The advisory group released the survey the last week of March and looked at the responses at their April 12 meeting. Several healthcare needs in Morrow County stood out in answers from the 10 questions in the survey.
Top concerns
Access to specialists was the number one concern in three questions in the survey.
Need for more access to specialists was also named in what healthcare needs should be addressed in the next five years in Morrow County.
