The Defenders… This will be the first weekend of action for the Defender hockey team after a delayed start to the season. Right now Dordt is scheduled to play eight contests and are looking to improve on a 4-14 season last year. Last year’s team was led by Logan Visser with 10 goals and 11 assists and Eli Visscher had nine goals and 12 assists. Also returning are Jaren and Rylan Brue who each had six goals last season and Jaren Brue had nine assists. Dordt’s returning goalie experience is Trevor De Vries with 120 minutes played last season. Last Time… The Defenders played Creighton on Saturday, February 8 to conclude the regular season and lost a 9-6 decision in Omaha. The game came after the Defenders were idle for two weeks due to teams disbanding. Six different Defenders scored a goal each and Caleb Koomans assisted on three goals. Jaren Brue had a goal and an assist as did Eli Visscher and Logan Visser. Bryce Andry faced 40 shots in goal and made 31 ....
