Sun Prairie assisted living facility residents allowed to return after gas leak evacuation

SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. Residents of a Sun Prairie assisted living facility are being allowed to return after having to evacuate due to elevated gas levels Friday afternoon.
A total of 17 people were evacuated from Faith Living Center on Clarmar Drive after the Sun Prairie Fire Department detected a low explosive level of gas in the building.
Fire Chief Christopher Garrison says WE Energies was able to turn off the gas and Sun Prairie Electric shut off power to the building. Residents and staff were displaced for a couple hours until the gas levels dissipated and returned to safe levels. A news release said there were elevated gas readings in the kitchen area and second floor, but the leak has since been resolved. ....

JUNEAU, Wis. A Wisconsin sheriff says the University of Wisconsin Police Department’s decision to ban “Thin Blue Line” imagery “sends the wrong message to citizens and law enforcement.”
The move by UWPD Chief Kristen Roman follows criticism on social media of a “Thin Blue Line” flag displayed at the police department’s office. The flag, which resembles a U.S. flag but has a blue stripe, is considered a sign of police solidarity, but has also been criticized as a symbol of white supremacy. ....
