A woman who falsely claimed she was dying of cancer and let her friends raise £8,500 for a dream wedding has been jailed for five months.
Toni Standen, from Widnes in Cheshire, shaved her head and was interviewed by newspapers about her illness .
The 29-year-old admitted fraud at a Chester Magistrates Court hearing last month.
Neil Colville, of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), said Standen had abused the trust of her friends.
The CPS said that in June 2015 Standen told two of her friends, Ashlea Rowson and Jennifer Douglas, that she had been diagnosed with terminal vaginal cancer. ....

A FRAUDSTER who falsely claimed to have terminal cancer in order to con kind-hearted residents out of thousands of pounds has been jailed.
Toni Standen, from Widnes, allowed her unsuspecting friends to raise funds totalling more than £8,000 so that she could have her dream wedding.
In June 2015, the 29-year-old told them that she had been diagnosed with terminal vaginal cancer and provided regular updates on her treatment ‘with such clarity and detail that her condition was never questioned’.
She even shaved her head in order to appear as though she was undergoing chemotherapy in pictures posted on social media. ....
