Bhubaneswar (Odisha) [India], May 5 (ANI): The 14-day lockdown announced by the Odisha government to curb the spread of COVID-19 started from today.
According to the state government, emergency services would be permitted. Vegetable and grocery shops have been allowed to open from 6 am to 12 pm along with the transportation to and from the hospitals or airport or railway station for public convenience.
The government has also allowed all Aahaar Kendras in the state to remain open during the lockdown, but the service has been restricted to take-aways only.
Meanwhile, all other regular activities, business units along with several other establishments, education institutes, commercial and public transport, and any other activities have been restricted.

The Odisha government on Sunday declared a 14-day lockdown from May 5 to contain the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the state, an official order said.
In a video message, Chief Secretary SC Mahapatra said the lockdown will be imposed in the entire state from May 5 (5 am) till May 19.
Along with the lockdown, the weekend shutdown in urban areas will also be in force till May 15, he said.

Amid rising Covid-19 infections, the Odisha government on Sunday imposed a 14-day lockdown, which will be effective from May 5 to May 19.
Prior to Odisha, Delhi, Karnataka and Jammu and Kashmir also imposed a Covid-induced lockdown to contain the spread of the virus.
The development comes in the backdrop of India recording 3,92,488 fresh coronavirus cases and a record 3,689 deaths during the last 24 hours. With the new addition, the active cases in the country have crossed the 33-lakh mark.

The Odisha government on Sunday (May 2) announced a 14-day lockdown in the state owing to the spike in the COVID-19 caseload.
The lockdown will remain in force with effect from May 5 till May 19, 2021, informed the State Information & Public Relation Department. There shall be lockdown throughout the state with effect from May 5, 2021 (Wednesday) till 5 am of May 19, 2021 (Wednesday), the order stated.
People will be allowed to purchase essential items within 500-metre radius of their residences between 6 am and 12 pm, according to the official order. During weekends, they will only be able to avail medical services.
The order further said that the lockdown and the weekend shutdown will not be applicable to any poll-related work, such as the movement of personnel engaged in facilitating by-election to Pipili assembly constituency, which is to be held on May 16.
