Give Local York raised more than $3.7 million in its one-day, community-wide giving event May 7 topping last year s total of 3.5 million.
In its fourth year, the effort pulled in 11,086 individual donors who gave 20,736 gifts to 302 charitable local organizations.

Give Local York begins at midnight, marking its 4th year

The Showcase will culminate with a livestreamed Fireworks Show at 9 p.m., and then launch into the livestreamed Finale Concert, presented by Weary Arts Group and Assorted Studios.
While Give Local York will not be hosting a big in-person event, many of the participating nonprofits will hold their own events. Some participating nonprofits include Big Brothers Big Sisters of York and Adams Counties, York County Food Bank, York County Libraries, and The York Jewish Community Center.

Give Local York returns May 7 as nonprofits' needs increase

COVID-19 may still be causing limitations on gatherings and events, but Give Local York is returning May 7 for its fourth year.
Last year, despite being in the midst of a pandemic and unemployment numbers at Great Depression-era levels, the local community raised $3.5 million for more than 300 local nonprofits.
Over 11,000 people donated during the 24-hour event, which is York County’s biggest day of giving.
And while the economy may be in a better place than it was this time last year, there is still a big need for keeping area nonprofits operational.
“Last year, we were able to address some of the immediate needs. We did a really good job as a community to make sure people could stay afloat,” said Meagan Given, executive director of White Rose Leadership Institute, which is hosting Give Local York. “But what we are hearing now is that a year without being able to host events or fundraisers has really hurt the ability of nonprofit to ....
