Opposition member Pio Tikoduadua is calling on the government to stop the blame game.
Tikoduadua has questioned government on why they are pretending they weren’t aware of drafting of the police bill.
He said everybody in Fiji knows that nothing happens in the government unless the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama or Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says so.
“Last week the Local Government Minister Premila Kumar blamed an un-named “consultant” for the release of municipal market regulations imposing huge fees on market vendors,” he said
“Kumar said the regulations were not aligned with the government’s vision. 
Now, the Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama is saying that the Police Bill does not reflect the views of the government and will be withdrawn.  ....

Former Prime Minister and Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry says Local Government Minister Premila Kumar is  now “resorting to face-saving tactics”.
He said market vendors were asked to make submissions on the proposed Local Government (Municipal Market Regulations).
“It is obvious that the Minister is now resorting to face-saving tactics,” Mr Chaudhry said.
“There is no way our market vendors would be able to meet such exorbitant fees.”
Mr Chaudhry said the Minister must explain how the draft was “leaked” to the Market Vendors Association in the various municipalities. ....

Local Government Minister Premila Kumar told Cuvu informal settlement residents in Nadroga that their lot allotment process could be completed by March this year.
She made the comment in response to queries from residents during a public consultation on the issue in November last year.
A resident, Rohini Devi, had asked Mrs Kumar on the expected time frame for completion of the proposed lot allotment process.
“What is the simple completion time frame for the allocation process, we have been waiting for the past six years,” Ms Devi had asked.
In response, Mrs Kumar said the ministry was on the verge of completing the process. ....

Do not surrender your legal leases to the iTaukei Land Trust Board, says Fiji Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry.
He made the comment in a statement issued in response to a call by Local Government Minister Premila Kumar for tenants in informal settlements to surrender their lease documents to allow development of iTaukei land for housing.
She made the call during a consultation on the proposed Lot Allocation Policy in Lautoka last Saturday. Mr Chaudhry said residents should not do so.
“They are legal tenants holding the agreement to lease for a period of 99 years,” the former prime minister said. “They are paying their annual rents to TLTB. ....
