It is a category 4 storm and at one point it was a category 5. record- breaking hurricane. and as we go through the next couple of days. bermuda is on alert tomorrow and monday and scoot off in the northeast as it becomes extra tropical. we are breathing a sigh of relief because it didn t hit the east coast but we are feeling weather problems because of the hurricane and record- setting moisture. and 16 inches of rain and more on the way. this will be ongoing not only south carolina and mid- atlantic coast line. there will be beach erosions and this will be a long event. not only lasting today, but monday and tuesday, we have all of the variables in the atmosphere that is leading to rough conditions on the oast ....
Intersection, evacuations of people from their homes due to heavy flding and rising waters after other families were evacuated last night nearby, as well. in the last three days, though, south carolina has received more rain than it normally does in the entire season. with that much rain, it is not just flooding this officials are worried about now. there s a higher risk of roadways to be washed out as well as landslides both on the coast as well as inland, as well. this afternoon, president obama signed a declaration disaster declaration for south carolina to start to get help there, as well, julie. the flooding is only going to get worse tomorrow i understand. is that correct? reporter: yeah. more rain is expected tomorrow. all along the mid-atlantic coast and officials said that there s nowhere for the rain to go. the riverways are completely full. lakes are full. the ground is just so saturated ....
