Gardeners’ green fingers raise healthy new Hospice total Winning in Waiwera – Ōrewa Garden Club members at their successful Harbour Hospice fundraiser. They say a change is as good as a rest, and that was certainly the case for Ōrewa Garden Club’s recent annual fundraiser for Harbour Hospice. After seven years at Hilary Ashcroft’s Ōrewa home and garden, the club moved out of town to the hills above Waiwera for this year’s event and ended up raising $1360 – almost double the usual total. The day was held at Dee and Lloyd Farrand’s property and included a floral hat parade, raffles, a shared lunch and a plant stall. Club treasurer Linda Mellor said she was amazed when she totted up the total raised by the 35 women. ....
