Amid the assurance by deputy chief minister DK Shivakumar that citizens owning plots in buffer zones around forest areas on the city’s outskirts will be allowed to construct buildings, legal experts and forest officials say the move will pave the way for a bitter confrontation.
The residents said that the builder’s failure to follow setback norms resulted in a blind curve at one corner of the structure. Recent accidents near the curve have raised concerns among motorists who struggle to anticipate oncoming vehicles due to restricted visibility. Residents have voiced their objections to the construction and requested the contractor to leave sufficient space between the footpath and the building, in compliance with building by-laws.
