DTCP: In the corridor too, around four to five feet of space was encroached upon by the shop owners. The team first directed all the shopkeepers to move their goods inside and gave a strict warning.
Two illegal colonies, which were carved out on over 12 acres without the approval of competent authorities and in violation of Haryana Urban Development Act, 1975, were demolished in IMT Manesar on Thursday in presence of police personnel.
In the last six months, the department carried out 70 demolition drives in which more than 100 illegal colonies — spread over 500 acres — were razed costing lakhs of rupees.
The enforcement wing of the department of town and country planning (DTCP) has written to the police, seeking registration of FIRs against developers of 10 illegal colonies that were built on agricultural land without taking mandatory permission from competent authorities. The department will also write to the revenue department to recover the expenses incurred on the demolition drives from the land owners.
However, nothing much has changed on ground as violators continue to set up unauthorised colonies and cheat investors and prospective homebuyers of their hard-earned money.
