One of the first conservation projects undertaken in 2005 by the Village Alive Trust local buildings preservation trust was to save the dilapidated 1754 built Cwm Farm Grade II listed cider house at Llangattock Lingoed, Abergavenny after an approach from the farmer, the late Harvey Marks. Harvey, who died on Christmas Day, 2021, had lived at the Cwm since 1945 after moving with his family at a young age from Coventry which had suffered blitz bombing raids. A bachelor, he enjoyed welcoming visitors to the farm to see the restored cider house with its ancient mill and press, baking oven and fire heated copper. The Village Alive Trust, which he supported, was able to gain grants to conserve the building. Conservation included rebuilding the gable end, replacing rotten roof timbers and repairing the loft steps with its dog kennel underneath and renewing the apple store floor. As Cwm Farm is in an area of designated footpaths Harvey often allowed passing walkers to view the cider house ....
