Over the last month, The Daily News has received multiple reports from parents concerned about incidents regarding alleged bullying in both public and private schools.
Because of this, The Daily News has decided to investigate these claims in a five-part series called Bullying and Onslow County Schools .
Here, we will look at the definition of what bullying is, different types of bullying, how it affects kids at different age levels, compare public and private school policies, and if there are ways to bridge the gaps that parents feel are not being addressed.
Local family says Living Water Christian School has a bullying problem
“Words can hurt more,” she says.
The former Living Water Christian School sixth-grader joined her parents and other demonstrators outside her old school Friday to bring awareness to the seriousness of bullying, something she endured too much of while enrolled at Living Water.
When the bullying recently came to a head, Adelyn’s mother says she trusted Living Water to handle it. Then, the bully told Adelyn that “she could fall in a hole and die, and no one would care,” according to the family.
Yet, her mother was not alerted by the school.
