Banks hesitate to give loans as Nagas lack 'credit discipline', says Nagaland legislator

Our Reporter Dimapur, July 23 (EMN): Nagas lack “credit discipline” and therefore many banks in Nagaland hesitate to give loans, asserted Moatoshi Longkumer, Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA), Nagaland. He was addressing a programme on the SVANidhi Mahotsav scheme; and celebration of AtmaNirbhar street vendors at Supermarket, Dimapur on Saturday. He stated that if Nagas follow credit discipline, they can catch up with the rest of the country. Longkumer added that there were many Nagas who do not know the art of saving money and spend more than they earn. “We have to understand that we need to change our lifestyle and so we need to improve our saving character,” he urged. He also urged the vendors and traders to avail the SVANidhi scheme and follow proper guidelines so that they can benefit from it. Leaving 'Footprints' in the hearts of those who deserve help

Livine KhrozhohDimapur, May 25 (EMN): The urge to share the little she has with people in need pushed Sentipokla Jamir to make and sell pickles when she was in college. Her dream of helping others took shape when she started “Footprints”, an initiative to help the poor and needy persons, especially the senior citizens, in 2015. Sharing about the baby steps of “Footprints” to Eastern Mirror, Jamir said she drew inspiration from God and her parents who told her when she was a kid that “we do not have to be rich to help the poor and needy person”. The youngest of four siblings, Jamir grew up from Indisen Dimapur and experienced the joy of giving early in life through the generosity of her parents. “Whatever I am doing is an extension of the values my parents taught and brought me up with,” she said. ‘Sharing whatever we have with others has made a big impact in my life and so I am trying to help others,’ said Jamir, who is also a Field Demonstrator at Nagaland Health P ....
