Dimapur, Nov. 16 (EMN): Nagaland government, as part of the Indian delegates, for the first time hosted a session at the ongoing UN Climate Conference COP 27 in Sharm el-sheikh, Egypt. An update informed that Nagaland was represented by Dharmendra Prakash, PCCF and HOFF; M Senthil CCF from the department of Environment Forest and Climate Change, and Dr. Atoho, director of Climate Studies and Knowledge Solutions Centre, Department of Science and Technology. It stated that more than 33,000 delegates from nearly 200 countries attended the conference making it the second largest COP summit till date. “It is historic being Nagaland’s first ever to host a session at such a global climate event showcasing our ongoing work and also launching an international research initiative on indigenous conservation for development and livelihood,” Dr. Jakhalu stated. Dimapur, June 27 (EMN): Chanwang Konyak, resident of Satakha town in Zunheboto, rescued an endangered Chinese Pangolin from his locality and handed over to Tizu Valley Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Network (TVBCLN), which was later released at Sukhai community conservation area (CCA). The TVBCLN team leader, Ivan Zhimomi, has acknowledged the good deeds done by Chanwang Konyak for finding the safest place for the endangered animals. He remarked that such noble gestures towards the endangered species should be followed by all responsible citizens of the state. He further mentioned that the endangered species like Blythe Tragopan, Hornbill, Hollock Gibbons, Chinese Pangolin and Clouded Leopard should be preserved.
