600 Limerick vaccine appointments cancelled

Around 600 appointments for vaccinations in Limerick scheduled for today have been cancelled.
It follows updated guidance received from the National Immunisation Advisory Committee, and the Department of Health.
The advice is that the Astra Zeneca vaccine should not be given to anyone under 60.
The HSE last evening wrote to Hospital Groups and Community Healthcare Organisations to advise that all AstraZeneca Covid-19 Vaccination Clinics planned for today, Tuesday April 13th, should be cancelled.
Anybody due to attend an Astra Zeneca clinic is therefore advised not to do so.
It s estimated that around 600 appointments had been scheduled for the Raddisson Blu Hotel on the Ennis Road. ....

Milford Care Centre has appointed a new Chief Executive.
Mary O Brien succeeds Pat Quinlan, who retired at the end of March after 32 years with the organisation.
Mary, a Limerick native. has held a variety of senior managerial roles including general manager at UL Hospitals Group.
She has also served as interim chief director of nursing and midwifery at ULHG and most recently, held the role of head of service, older persons at HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare.
She is an alumnus of the University of Limerick and University of Liverpool.
In 2019, Ms O’Brien achieved a First Class Honours MSc in supply chain operations and is clinically trained as both a registered general nurse and a registered midwife. ....
