Members of the City of Harrisburg’s Comprehensive Plan Community Working Group will meet with PennLive’s Editorial Board at 6 p.m. Tuesday in a Zoom event that will be aired on live on Facebook.
Winnie Okello, Basir Vincent, and James Hobbs, all members of the working group, will discuss the upcoming public Zoom forum “Civic Engagement, Power, and Politics,” that will be held 7 p.m. Thursday, May 6. The committee says it is looking to engage resident of the city with the following objectives:

Now that a coronavirus vaccine is here, many people are wondering when they can get it and where. But there also are those who are skeptical about whether they want to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
PennLive and The Patriot-News are partnering with the World Affairs Council of Harrisburg to sponsor a virtual “COVID-19 Town Hall” at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29 with respected healthcare professionals to answer questions about the vaccines, including whether they are safe and effective.

The City of Harrisburg had more homicides in 2020 than at any time in the past 30 years. And many of them involved youth.
PennLive and The Patriot-News is sponsoring “Save Our Children: A Harrisburg Community Forum” to explore reasons for the increased violence among youth and what can be done to stop it.
A panel of experts will discuss parenting in the next online forum at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26. The event will examine the special challenges of single mothers, grandparents raising small children and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on parenting.

Congress has finally passed a relief bill to help relieve some of the stresses many Americans are facing during these difficult times, but President Trump doesn’t like the bill and is threatening to veto it.
Congress approved a $900 billion package that would put $600 in the pockets of taxpayers this holiday season. But the president says it’s not enough. He says Americans need at least $2000, and many progressive Democrats agreed with him. But that puts the president squarely at odds with many of his Republican colleagues, who are worried about the ballooning deficit and fiscal responsibility.
