Mary Mills, longtime restaurant professional, needs kidney donation


Mills has been on a national registry for a kidney donor since February 2020 when she learned she would need a transplant. The hope is that the more awareness there is of polycystic kidney disease, the more likely a donor will make the live-saving act to donate a kidney to save Mills’ life. 
For those like Mills who need a kidney transplant, a healthy kidney can come from a living donor or a recently deceased person.
“The average wait time for a deceased donor is approximately 3 to 5 years, so we are sharing my story in the hopes of finding a living donor willing to ‘share their spare’,’’ said Mills, who has been with Live Oak Restaurant Group for nearly 20 years, rising from entry-level line cook to her current executive position.  ....

Savannah businessman's building damaged at Nashville explosion site


Ansley Williams, who owns a number of Savannah-area restaurants as part of the Live Oak Restaurant Group, also owns several buildings in Nashville. One of the buildings is located at 166 Second Ave., right at ground zero, of the explosion, Williams said.
The FBI has identified Anthony Warner, 63 of Antioch, Tenn., as the bomber. Warner parked an RV on Second Avenue early Christmas morning that exploded, causing major property damage. Remains found indicate Warner was likely inside the vehicle when it exploded. No motive has been announced.
Williams sister, Betsy Williams, was at the multi-story, mixed-use building, living in an apartment on the third floor. Ansley and members of his family had just visited Nashville, leaving for home two days before Christmas. ....
