The St. Ann police are warning that persons planning to flock to beaches in the parish over the New Year s holiday will be prosecuted if caught.
 
Superintendent David Whyte, head of operations for Area 2, told
Radio Jamaica News that the police will be taking a zero tolerance approach to beachgoers found in breach of the Disaster Risk Management Act.
 
He said persons have been defying the orders to stay away from the closed beaches in the parish.
 
Several beachgoers were arrested and charged on Boxing Day during operations conducted by the St. Ann police.
 
Seven beaches, including the Ocho Rios Bay, Turtle Beach, Fantasy, Cardiff Hall, Flavour and Little Dunn s River have all been ordered closed by the Ministry of Local Government. ....
