3 arrested for fake check scheme in Cortland, Tompkins counties, troopers say

Three people have been arrested over the last month for their involvement in a fake check cashing scheme in Cortland and Tompkins, according to New York State police.
The three people an 18-year-old man, Lisa A. Pagliaro, 52, and Jamie L. Gonzalez, 40 stole over $4,300 by cashing what appeared to be payroll checks from Cortland Country Club in the town of Cortlandville, troopers said. Authorities began investigating the crime in January, troopers said.
Gonzalez was arrested and charged Tuesday with two counts of possession of a forged instrument, felonies, and is being held at the Cortland County Jail, troopers said. She is scheduled to return to the Cortlandville Town Court in July, troopers said. ....
