Second-grader leads drove to give supplies to homeless children


After seeing a television commercial about homelessness, the 8-year-old St. Bernadette second-grader decided to help.
It was really sad how they were not having anything, she said. They were cold, they were freezing. They needed something. It was just so sad.
So with the help of Pediatrics Dentistry and her aunt and uncle, Lisa and Ron Linehan, she led a project to give 60 backpacks filled with supplies to needy children. Annabella and her family plan to give them out to five city schools this week. The backpacks are filled with items like COVID-19 masks, nail clippers, lip balm, hygiene kits, bibles, gloves, socks and much more. ....

KITTERY, Maine Kittery Land Trust has closed out a challenging year by permanently protecting a 30-acre property tucked away in the center of the community, just steps from the town’s middle school on Stevenson Road. Instead of a seven-home subdivision, the fertile fields and woodlands of a former dairy farm will become a hub for local agriculture, nature-based education, and outdoor recreation. Named for former owner Jacquelyn Nooney who ran a horticulture and landscape design business on the property for many years, Nooney Farm is a bold expression of Kittery Land Trust’s long-held mission to “Save Land and Build Community”. ....
