The federal Program Designed to help the longterm unemployed has expired and anyone who has been collecting unemployment for more than 26 weeks will be affected. California now has the highest number of people in that category, 220,000. Nevada, illinois, pennsylvania, connecticut, new york, new jersey, and massachusetts, also have much higher than average numbers of people out of work for that long.
