警方指出，橋頭所員警執行勤務時，行經橋頭村鎮安路大排發現有人倒臥，立即下車查看並關心詢問，員警將老翁扶起致意旁休息後，老翁逐漸恢復意識，並告訴員警自己騎腳踏車外出買午餐，可能是天氣太熱一時暈眩才會倒在地上，員警檢視老翁發現有輕微擦傷但並無大礙，警方原本要請救護車到場卻遭婉拒。
員警提醒該大排地處偏遠少有人經過，叮嚀男子以後出門盡量走有人的地方，萬一發生危險才能求救；員警不放心他獨自回家，以巡邏車協助他安全回到住處，老翁對於警方的熱心相當感動，頻頻稱讚警察幫忙救命，是正港的人民保母。 老翁中午外出卻不堪烈日暈眩倒地，橋頭所員警巡邏經過及時給予援助，並安全將老翁送返家中，深獲家屬感謝與肯定。
