A fire that broke out at a Near South apartment building Tuesday night caused $230,000 in damage and displaced the residents of 10 apartment units, officials said.
U.S. District Judge Brian Buescher allowed the case to go forward, finding that Amanda Benson had raised enough questions of fact for her claims to go before a jury.
Fire crews extinguished the mattress and ventilated the apartment unit, where they found reptiles that apparently died due to the smoke and heat conditions around their enclosures, authorities said.
