South Africa’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Mninwa Johannes Mahlangu, toured investments by leading South African companies at Tatu City on Tuesday. His stops included Crawford International school, a 20-acre, multi-billion-shilling investment by ADvTECH, the Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed education group; Kenya Wine Agencies Ltd (KWAL), which is majority-owned by South African beverage conglomerate Distell; and Cold Solutions, an investment by ARCH Emerging Markets Partners, which is backed by South African businessman Patrice Motsepe.

Not knowing where and when to get the next meal tormented them, but food donations from the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP), non-profit organisations, the government and well-wishers kept them alive and kicking.
At the height of the pandemic, the government also issued a Sh2,000 stipend to slum dwellers in Nairobi.
KWAL kicks off construction of its manufacturing facility at Tatu City

The Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) held ground-breaking ceremony for its state-of-the-art Ksh. 4 billion manufacturing facility in Tatu Industrial Park, in the 5,000 acre Tatu City Special Economic Zone. The new facility is expected to enhance KWAL’s local value creation and make a significant contribution to the company’s long-term growth strategy.
This investment marks the first production facility opened by KWAL in more than two decades. KWAL was privatised in 2015 and that is the point at which Distell became a shareholder. This enabled the company to unlock opportunities in improving brand capabilities, increased product portfolio and expanding its regional reach with additional Depot Centers in Eldoret and Meru towns.
