Waynesboro Record Herald Waynesboro s Service Unit of the Salvation Army didn t just match last year s charitable giving, they blew away 2019 s total. According to Tom McCloud, chairman of the Waynesboro unit, giving was up 41% over last year. Overwhelming support, even in this most difficult year, from the volunteers and donations from the public resulted in over $14,000 being raised, McCloud said. These funds will be used in the Waynesboro, Greencastle and Mercersburg areas to support efforts of the Salvation Army to Do the Most Good. For over 150 years, the Salvation Army has been helping individuals and families that are in need, not only at Christmas, but throughout the year. ....
Waynesboro Record Herald A beloved Waynesboro pastor will be retiring at the end of the year after serving Salem Church for 23 years. Lin Smalec and her husband Andy came to Salem Church in June 1997, shortly after she was ordained by Eden Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. The Waynesboro-based church, founded in the late 1700s, is one of the oldest churches in the area. Being at Salem Church has been an absolute blessing, Liz Smalec said. I came to the church right at a time when they were primed for change and they were ready for anything which allowed me to do a lot of creative things with worship and missions. It created a lot of fun times during my time there. ....
