COVID-19 cases could peak at 6,000 a day in the coming days according to Professor Philip Nolan.
The Chair of the NPHET Irish Epidemiological Modelling Advisory Group said today s case total will reach in excess of 3,000.

Speaking on RTE Radio 1 s Saturday with Katie Hannon Prof Nolan said: We re turning this around from a very high peak of several thousand cases per day before we see cases come back down again. ....

RTE has issued an apology over a “blasphemous” video that aired during their New Year’s Eve Countdown show - but will continue to allow viewers to watch the segment, which will now carry a warning.
The Archbishop of Armagh and Primate of All Ireland Eamon Martin yesterday called on the broadcaster to remove a comedy sketch, which aired during RTE’s New Year’s Eve countdown programme.

TEMPERATURES are set to plummet as low as -4C tonight as the entire country is placed on a status yellow warning.
The low temperature/ice alert kicks in at 6pm this evening and will remain in place until 10am tomorrow morning.

Met Eireann has warned of potentially dangerous conditions due to the freezing conditions.
The weather alert for each of the 26 counties says: Temperatures will fall to minus 3 or 4 degrees tonight, colder locally away from coasts.
This will lead to a widespread hard ground frost and icy surfaces, with potentially dangerous conditions.
Today will continue to be mainly dry across the island with highest temperatures of 5C this evening. ....
