Man jailed for lying about not having sex with wife to annul marriage


ANNULLED
The marriage was annulled by the Family Justice Courts and finalised on Nov 22, 2017.
The judge who made the order did so after Lim had claimed Ms Wang had wilfully refused to consummate the marriage multiple times.
However, investigations revealed the couple did have consensual sex during marriage.
They also had sex in August and October that year, before the annulment was finalised.
It was not revealed in court documents how this was uncovered.
Lim pleaded guilty to one charge yesterday of making a false claim before the courts.
Ms Wang has not been prosecuted and has returned to China. ....

SINGAPORE: A man who wanted to get out of his marriage lied in a court statement that his wife had wilfully refused to consummate the union, and successfully obtained an annulment.
However, investigations revealed that the couple had sex several times, even before the annulment was finalised.

SINGAPORE - In a desperate bid to save costs on divorce proceedings, a man lied before a court that his newly-wed wife had refused to consummate their marriage, so that they could annul their marriage instead.
Daryl Lim Chun Leng, 25, also wanted to avoid being labelled a divorcee, and he got his then wife to agree to his plan in exchange for his cooperation in future matters.
On Tuesday (Dec 22), Lim was sentenced to one week s jail after he pleaded guilty to one charge of lying before a court of justice.
The court heard that Lim and Ms Wang Kechen, 24, were married in January 2017, but had marital troubles by mid-June that year, after Ms Wang discovered that he had an extramarital affair. ....
