Two upcoming documentaries on Valley PBS cover Armenian-Americans’ struggles grappling with cultural identity and intergenerational trauma, a century after the Armenian Genocide. Valley Edition host Kathleen Schock spoke with Jared White and Lilit Pilikian, the husband and wife team behind the film “100 Years From Home.” It documents Lilit’s quest to find the home her ancestors fled during the genocide. She also spoke with Stephanie Ayanian, producer of the film, “What Will Become of Us.” It explores the lasting impact on the descendants of genocide survivors. That film features Fresno musician Richard Hagopian, who also joined the conversation. “100 Years from Home” and “What Will Become of Us”will be broadcasted in late April MONTREAL, Canada & FRESNO, Calif. With the 106th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide on April 24, a pair of moving, personal documentaries shed light on the lasting trauma, coming soon to PBS stations in Montreal and Fresno. These wounds were reopened by the recent war between Azerbaijan, backed by Turkey, and the Armenians in the contested region of Nagorno-Karabakh, also known as Artsakh. “100 Years from Home,” produced by Lilit Pilikian and directed by Jared White, airs on Montreal’s Mountain Lake PBS on Sunday, April 18 at 5 p.m. ET. “What Will Become of Us,” directed by Stephanie Ayanian and Joseph Myers, follows directly after at 6:30 p.m. ET. ....
