LEDs Magazine is pleased to announce the 7
th annual Sapphire Awards finalists. For 2021, 17 product categories were recognized, with submissions delineating a clear path toward solid-state lighting (SSL) and systems that do more than illuminate spaces.
The program opens annually with a list of categories driven by the trends of the past year. For example, this year the product categories for submission included UV LEDs and Systems in order to address the massive deployment of ultraviolet technology in disinfection applications over the past year. Inevitably, the editorial team and judging panel deem it necessary to modify categories that reflect a more appropriate description and/or competitive alignment of the entries once received.
