His talk was part of a symposium held at the library of virginia in richmond. This years symposium here did not come together as smoothly as they often do and as smtly as i would like. Thats entirely my thought. It took me a long time before i arrived at a concept and a title that worked. My working title for a long time was the civil war bucket list, what you should know before you go. A title that just didnt sing for some reason. I want to thank our longsuffering panelists for bearing with me as i arrived at a workable concept and title. I did have a clear idea what have i wanted this symposium to be, a blend of wellknown speakers who would discuss what they learned about the civil war blended with lesser known speakers who you should want to know well and will want to know well and have them ....

E president bush chose this site final resting place. So in april, about a year and a ago now, we buried mrs. Bush here and then in after his death in november, and then the funeral inut six days later, december, he was brought up here the up, 4141, in the special car. Amazingly, there were there lined, all the way from houston. Its probably about 80 or 90 miles from houston here. And there were people lined up thealong the tracks, all way here. I was in a bus. We kind of followed the path of train. And it was just amazing. You could see the people all tracks,l over the places likeoe, that. Ended at thetrain university about a mile from here. Ad the casket was put in hearse and brought here. Theres a walkway on the other the gravesite. Lin ....
We return fighting is a chronicle of men and women who served the country on the battlefield as well as on the home front and their struggles for civil rights. One of the main things we will learn this evening is that while the Civil Rights Movement was decades away, world war i established important questions of citizenship that paved the way toward future progress. We are fortunate to be joined tonight by shasha conwell, the s Deputy Director and editor of we return fighting. The images are really very powerful, of americans at war and on the home front. The only problem was all of the moderns models were tied to various fashion houses in europe, not in america. Mrs. Astor and mrs. Fish were able to cobble together a very interesting show of new york fashion at last. Here it is. The new York City Public Library just found some of the stills and if you go to their website you will see the fashions. As i said, the models were tied to other places and as you can see alternately conde was making close in different sizes because not all of them were models, are they .
