Lewes Mayor and City Council will consider removing the outdoor mask mandate at its meeting Monday, May 17. 
Masks have been required in the downtown business district and beach parking lots since July, but Lewes Board of Health Chair Dr. Paul Cowan of Beebe Healthcare said it’s now appropriate to allow people to make their own decisions. 
“From a science standpoint, we have always understood from the early days that natural air is the best antiseptic,” he said. “Whether the virus is spread by droplets or aerosolized, natural airflow pushes it away and to the ground quickly.” ....

Rehoboth streets committee to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Streets and Transportation Committee has scheduled an online meeting for 10 a.m., Thursday, May 13.
The agenda calls for an update on the painting of sharrows and a discussion about the speed bumps on Lake Avenue.

Lewes planners to meet April 21
The Lewes Planning Commission will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 21. Commissioners will consider a recommendation on the final subdivision plan for Lewes Waterfront Preserve. The developer is seeking approval to build 89 townhouses on 34.64 acres on New Road adjacent to Canary Creek. The group will also consider a request to subdivide property along Schley Avenue into four lots. Three of the four lots conform to city code requirements, while the fourth is undersized. The board of adjustment approved a variance for the smaller lot earlier this year. Commissioners will consider a rezoning request for the former Lewes Dairy property at 660 Pilottown Road from industrial to R-2, low-density residential. Dewey commissioners meet March 12
Dewey Beach commissioners will meet virtually at 2 p.m., Friday, March 12.
