When Bruce Lee died mysteriously in 1973, he was on the cusp of becoming the first international Chinese film star. He was already a star in Hong Kong. His first two feature-length kung fu films, The Big Boss (1971) and Fist of Fury (1972), broke box-office records becoming the two top-grossing films of all time in Hong Kong, dethroning The Sound of Music after six years at the top.
