Jul. 10 Idaho experienced an increase in its COVID-19 test positivity rate and seven-day moving average this week, according to data provided by the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare.
Dave Jeppesen, Health and Welfare s director, says the vast majority of the state s new COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations and deaths can be attributed to the unvaccinated. Through Friday, 44.6% of Idahoans age 12 and older have been fully vaccinated, which is well below the national average of 55.9%.
COVID-19 and COVID-19 variants are still in Idaho, Jeppesen wrote in a blog post Friday at dhwblog.com. Other states are seeing dramatic increases in cases. By choosing to get the vaccine, we can keep ourselves and our families safe. ....

Idaho’s health districts and the Department of Health and Welfare reported just 233 new confirmed coronavirus cases Friday, continuing a weeks-long decline. With 111 new probable cases, the combined total came in at 344.
Hospitalizations of people with COVID-19 are markedly lower than numbers from the past few months, January included, when Idaho’s recovery took hold. Jan. 23 Idaho s coronavirus situation continues to improve across several metrics as the state s vaccination rollout continues.
The number of Idahoans hospitalized with COVID-19 dropped again to 252 on Wednesday the fewest people hospitalized since Oct. 20. There were 67 people hospitalized in intensive care units Wednesday, the last day the data was available.
The state s seven-day case average also dropped to October levels at 615.1. Health and Welfare and the state s seven health districts reported 428 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 149 probable cases Friday, for a total count of 577 new cases. ....
