The opening District 30-6A game between United and United South went down to the wire Friday as the Lady Panthers took down the defending district champions 61-57 in overtime.
“We are going to expect close games like this throughout our district, especially what we have gone through past half a year, where teams are not really prepared but coaches are doing a great job,” United South head coach Leopoldo Guardiola said. “Both teams did an outstanding job today. We are just lucky to come out on top. It feels good to be 1-0. It is a confidence booster for us. We have not had a big win in the last five games. It is not a lot, but we are going to take it home and improve on it.” ....
