The stand-off in Mossfield Road, Kearsley A MAN said to have staged a 12-hour stand off with police in Kearsley has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker. Stephen Wallwork, 31, of South Avenue, Kearsley, was on the roof of a property in Maple Close, on Wednesday. Police say he breached the conditions of his licence following his release from prison and after arresting him he spat at an officer. A GMP spokesman said: “A man has been charged following the assault of an emergency worker. Stephen Wallwork, 31, of South Avenue, has been charged with assaulting an emergency worker. “Wallwork has been remanded into custody after breaching the conditions of his license following his release from prison. He is due to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 26. ....
A man has been charged following a number of thefts from a supermarket. 57-year-old William Henderson, of Bury Road, Breightmet, has been charged with five counts of theft over the last month, according to police. Police say between December 11 2020 and January 14 this year they received five reports of theft from a supermarket on Breightmet Fold Lane. The value of these thefts totalled £136.42. Police say Mr Henderson has been remanded in police custody to appear at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates Court on January 19.
