A group of expelled ANC councillors in Mangaung, Free State, are planning to take on their former political party in the forthcoming by-elections under the banner Mangaung Seven.
When newly elected Mangaung mayor Papi Mokoena was scheduled to announce members of his mayoral committee, the ANC in the Free State successfully interdicted him from occupying the higher office.
The Free State High Court in Bloemfontein is hearing an urgent application by the ANC to challenge a Mangaung council sitting that resulted in Afrikan Alliance for Social Democrats president Papi Mokoena being elected mayor.
