Union to launch legal challenge over damaging NVZ rules 7 April 2021 | NFU Cymru has instructed its lawyers to explore the lawfulness of the new regulations NFU Cymru is to launch a legal challenge against Welsh government s new rules to control farm pollution having previously raised concerns about the lawfulness of the decision. A nitrate vulnerable zone (NVZ) designation will be rolled out gradually across the whole of Wales, starting from 1 April. NVZs are areas within Wales that contain surface water or groundwater susceptible to nitrate pollution from agricultural activities. Agricultural pollution incidents remain very high , according to the Welsh government, averaging over three per week in the last three years. ....
NFU Cymru is to launch a legal challenge against the Welsh Government’s new rules to control agricultural pollution, having previously raised concerns about the lawfulness of the decision. The new water quality regulations, which came into force across Wales on April 1, pose a significant threat to the economic viability of Welsh farming, the overall impact of which cannot be underestimated. These regulations effectively make the whole of Wales an environmental ‘at risk’ zone, attracting heavy and disproportionate regulations which will punish the whole farming sector. SINGAPORE - A man who had been sleeping in the rough found a roof over his head after a stranger approached him to split the rent on a flat in Teck Whye Crescent. But the previously homeless Mohammad Rosli Abdul Rahim, now 51, started to suspect that his co-tenant Mohammad Roslan Zaini, 35, was overcharging him for his share of the rent. On Tuesday (Feb 16), prosecutors told the High Court on the first day of Rosli s murder trial that he had intentionally inflicted the fatal stab wound - between 11cm and 13cm deep - which penetrated the victim s sternum and pierced his heart. ....
Former policeman Iskandar Rahmat, who is on death row for the high-profile Kovan double murder of 2013, will have a chance to argue before the Court of Appeal that his defence team should be investigated for misconduct. A five-judge panel, ruling against the Law Society yesterday, said complainants who are pursuing disciplinary probes against lawyers have the right to appeal all the way to Singapore s highest court. The court s decision overruled the legal position that was set in a 2011 case, which the Law Society had relied on - known as Top Ten Entertainment - in arguing that Iskandar had no right of appeal. ....
