在8组采访中，有6组学生回答不知道“卢沟桥事变”。其余两组里，有一名年轻人说自己在教科书里看过“卢沟桥事变”这个词，“但因为不是考试内容，老师让我们自学，所以不清楚具体指什么”。与他不同组的另外几名年轻人则告诉记者，他们的初中老师在课堂上详细讲过这段历史。“不是说不在考试范围吗？”记者问。他们说，“确实不在，但老师告诉我们，要正视、铭记这段历史”。《环球时报》记者由此猜想，他们的历史老师可能是日教组（日本教职员工会）成员。这是日本战后教育界左倾的工会组织，一直主张教授学生真实的历史。
