Sidewalk and Bike Trail Project Connects to Lee District Park

Kings Highway to Lee District Park in the Rose Hill area.
This project will construct 2,670 feet of sidewalk along the south side of Telegraph Road from 500 feet north of S. Kings Highway to Lee District Park. The project will also widen the road and install curb and gutter, storm drainage pipe and a retaining wall. The construction schedule is slated to run from October 2020 to Summer 2021.
The walkway project is on the opposite side of the Greendale Golf Course per coordination with Lee District Supervisor’s office at the time when Jeff McKay was the District Supervisor. according to Robin P. Geiger, Head of Communications at the Fairfax County Department of Transportation. This project will include a turn lane and it is one of several along Telegraph Road to keep things moving. ....

morning. most of us now, we continue to see cloudy skies and even showers popping up here and there. let s take a look at hd radar. most of that light green you see that uniform color, that is a flash flood watch in effect until this evening. where you re seeing the rain, look up towards from western washington, up towards gaithersburg, along 270, rain showers. off to the south and west, manassas and around dale city heavy rain. it s more sporadic than what we saw yesterday. i mentioned the flash flood watch, that s in effect until tonight because anywhere where we see more shower activity, particularly if we see thunderstorms, we could see additional flooding. in addition, even without rain, some of the low lying areas where we have streams and creeks and the river and such, you could continue to see some flooding as we get the tides and water moving down stream and that type of activity. right now, reagan national, 71 degrees. relative humidity 96%. winds out of the n ....

two women inside. only to be foiled by a wall of smoke. along the quiet tributaries of the south river where a blue heron pausees, the serenity was shattered before 2:00 p.m. that is when jean miller and her husband arrived home. i got out of the truck and said i am smelling smoke and burring plastic. reporter: they ran into their neighbor s home where barely visible smoke was coming out from under the door. her husband bravely attempted to rescue the two women inside. he went to the back door and opened it. all of the smoke was bellowing. reporter: he tied to get inside and jean tried, too. and. i tried to go in the house and to get to the couch where the lady was. i couldn t you can t breathe that smoke. reporter: firefighters found one woman in her 50s dead inside and another woman in her 80s was flown to shock trauma in critical . it took 60 firefighters to beat back the flames and smoke. the house is a total loss. several neighbors who had been home sai ....

look at our satellite-radar and again, we don t have much to show you. one or two clouds moving through at the moment. again, not going to amount to much here. i think we ll see a few more clouds than yesterday but the last few days, we ve only had just a passing cloud at best. you can see a little rain shower activity well off to the west but we have high pressure protecting us here for the next few days. until that can really slip offshore, we ll be nice and dry around here. dry weather today, sunshine and high temperatures back in the 80s. check out the current numbers. these are fantastic for the first of july. as i mentioned a few minutes ago, i suspect this will be one of the coolest numbers this month. ocean city, 66 degrees. warm today, plenty of sunshine during the afternoon. highs in the mid- to upper 80s. we ll go 87 degrees at 5:00 and again, a nice one tonight. should be nice and dry if you ve got outdoor plans tonight. if you are heading to the beach, it ....
